Jess Jocoy
Jess Jocoy crafts atmospheric Americana for rainy days and twilight hours. Her ethereal sound, rooted in a deep love for country music, blends a storyteller's nuanced delivery with a folksinger's finesse, creating a unique mix of twang and texture. Renowned journalist and broadcaster Alan Cackett has described her work as "the growth of an exciting songwriter, destined to be one of the greatest of her generation."
Raised two hours south of Seattle, Jess grew up under the drizzling skies and lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. "I'm a mountain girl at heart," she says, reflecting the scenery that inspired her acclaimed debut Such a Long Way and the 2021 follow-up EP Brighter Eyes. Both records, marked by the woozy, watercolor beauty of her native Washington State, were created in her adopted hometown of Nashville—a city whose songwriters captivated her from a young age.
Jess gained significant traction in 2018 after winning the Music Movers Competition held by Uber, leading to an opening slot for country artist Chase Rice during CMA Fest. In 2019, she appeared as a contestant on NBC's Songland (episode 103), pitching her original song “Easy” to Kelsea Ballerini. That same year, she was an official showcasing artist at the US AmericanaFest and played Nashville's historic Bluebird Café five times, including four Sunday Spotlight showcases and one writer's round hosted by Musicians Corner, where she also celebrated the release of Let There Be No Despair.
Her music has reached international audiences with airplay on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio Ulster, where Eve Blair named her 'Artist of the Week' on her Late Show. This recognition coincided with an invitation to perform on NPR's Mountain Stage with Kathy Mattea as host. Jess was voted as the winner of the Americana-UK Twang Factor 2 and named Caffè Nero Artist of the Month for November 2021, with her music featured in over 750 coffee houses across the UK, where 13 of her songs remain in playlist rotation. After wrapping her first headlining UK tour in June 2022, Jess has firmly established herself as a rising name in Americana music, both in the US and abroad.
