Dana Black
A North Carolina native, Dana Hunt Black began her songwriting journey in Nashville in 1993. She has penned numerous songs for country music icons, including George Strait, for whom she wrote two of his biggest hits, “Check Yes or No” and “Write This Down,” both of which earned ASCAP Song of the Year honors. Dana also helped launch Gary Allan’s career by writing his breakthrough hit, “It Would Be You.”
In collaboration with her husband, Nashville Hall of Fame songwriter Charlie Black, she co-wrote “I Know What I Want for Christmas” for George Strait. Over the years, Dana has also written songs for Suzy Bogguss, Alan Jackson, Clay Walker, and many more.
Since 2004, Dana has made Port St. Joe, Florida her home. Her latest album, That Thing You Do, can be found on Amazon and iTunes under Charlie and Dana Hunt Black.
